Czechitas will open its first educational community center in Brno

The first educational community space for education of women and children in information technology is being established in Brno.

Behind it is a non-profit organization Czechitas, which acquired premises for it in the Business Centre Ponávka. The premises will be officially opened in the week of 30 September – 4 October. A special program full of workshops and lectures will take place throughout the week. The program will end with Sunday Family Day. More information and registration are available at czechitas.cz/openweek.

“When I founded Czechitas, the education center was one of my dreams. Now that dream has come true and I am extremely happy,” says founder of the organization Dita Přikrylová. And her dream is already outlined. Thanks to CTP, the organization acquired premises of 1500 m2, including equipped classrooms for courses, a large lecture hall with a capacity for up to 300 people and a café with conference facilities.

“The Czechitas Center is the first community education space connecting our graduates, students, partners and the general public. We want to offer Brno an innovative environment suitable for education, networking, work and creating new opportunities,” says founder of the organization Dita Přikrylová.

So what is going on in the Czechitas education center? “On the ground floor we are building a community center – a café, a children’s play area and a conference hall. The upper floor will be more about education. There will be a large lecture hall, relaxation room, facilities for lecturers, offices of Czechitas employees and three classrooms for workshops. We intend to use capacity to the maximum possible. We plan to organize a total of 326 events in Brno for approximately six thousand participants per year,” says Lenka Franců, Czechitas Operations Director, who managed the entire cooperation with the CTP developer.

“We have been supporting the education of young talents for a long time, and within CTParks we also support community growth. That is why it made sense for us to support Czechitas in their further growth and thus enable hundreds of people from the South Moravian Region and beyond to develop personally and get interesting and high-quality jobs in the IT field,” comments Jiří Kostečka, CTP’s business developer.

Czechitas is preparing a number of events for all age groups throughout the year. They do not want to be perceived as an organization educating only women. The center is to become a meeting place for whole families, friends and generally people who like education and development. Therefore, FabLab Brno, a new branch of the digital workshop, operated by JIC on its premises in the Technology Park, will be an important part of the newly emerging center.

“We want visitors to the Czechitas Education Center to experience 3D printers, a programmable sewing machine or a cutting plotter in the new FabLab,” explains Tomáš Mejzlík, who is in charge of FabLab at JIC and adds that prototypes of products, projects DIY and artwork. The possibility of working with economically expensive equipment is one of the ways to help the development of business in technical fields. “This is a continuation of the previous cooperation with Czechitas, which until recently organized their seminars and trainings in JIC. Education in technology is what connects JIC and Czechitas,”adds Mejzlík JIC Director Petr Chládek.
